Dear Robert (From Michael)
67
Big brother, what can I say about that letter?
It touched my heart to read that letter from you.
I don’t blame you for where I am right now,
I’ve learned that life is about choices and decisions.
I made mistakes in my life that I am paying for right now,
So no, it is not your fault for my prison sentence.
I surely do remember following you everywhere as a kid,
And us both getting into mischief in the neighborhood a lot of days.
Always wanting to emulate what you do and be like you,
Just didn’t know a lot of it would get me in trouble.
I knew you weren’t doing the right thing sometimes,
But I figured if you got away with it, I could too.
I’m glad that I motivate you to do better in life,
And our lives and mistakes have molded us into growing men.
Mr. Marble was surely your savior and I’m glad he was,
Now you can be mind and help me get my life right.
The letter you sent me hangs in my jail cell,
I read it every day to remind myself of the reason for me changing.
Mom wasn’t there for us like she should have been,
But like you said, I can’t be mad, she has personal issues to deal with.
My life is taking a turn for the better day by day,
I pray more and I have a bible I keep in my cell.
