What We Aren’t Told/The World Now

There are so many things we aren’t told about the world,

I hope everyone is ready so here it goes.

To start off, we aren’t told that we don’t learn everything in school,

All of our world history isn’t covered in our books.

We don’t learn a lot of life lessons from people,

Until we become adults and have to learn the hard way.

We aren’t told that the world is a cold place,

But I guess our parents don’t want to scare us as kids.

Society doesn’t tell us to follow our goals and dreams,

Follow everyone else, especially celebrities and music artists.

Men are told to be strong and not weak,

Expressing our feelings and emotions is not allowed.

 Men have to lead in society and always do what’s right,

But a large amount of us don’t learn how to be leaders.

We aren’t told love hurts and it takes time to find a good person,

We give up on love so easily because we give our all so fast or not at all.

We aren’t told that there aren’t rules to dating or relationships,

But we are caught up and engulfed to follow people’s advice instead of our hearts and minds.

We aren’t taught how to manage money and create a bank account,

Going to a bank to open a bank account is learning a new language.

We aren’t taught the necessary skills to get the job we want,

We aren’t taught how to write a resume and cover letter in school.

We don’t learn about other cultures and ethnicities,

Unless we learn from our classmates or go to other places.

We aren’t told that there are racist people in the world,

Who don’t give a damn about your existence on this earth.

We somehow learn all of these things going through life,

I bet a lot of people didn’t learn these things from anyone.

We aren’t taught about stocks and bonds,

We somehow have to find books on it and invest our money.

We aren’t taught how to buy a car from a dealership,

Learning that is something new and a process to get done.

We end up having to know someone who has done it before,

And has the necessary experience to talk to car salesmen.

We aren’t told that buying what we need is necessary,

We seem to be instinctively buying what we want more these days.

We aren’t told to travel the world and experience things,

If we don’t have people around us to inspire us, we won’t do it.
