Growing up its crazy what society and the media tell you,

You are brainwashed into a propaganda they want you to follow.

 Be a robotic machine and follow a routine and guidelines,

Let’s all get a 9 to 5 job in Corporate America.

Follow the same routine every single day,

Don’t follow your goals and dreams in life.

No matter where you are from, you are doomed,

If you allow the media waves to control your mind.

Trying to cleanse your mind and control your thoughts,

To the point of not being able to formulate your own opinions.

Being a puppet was what I was for the longest time,

Until I started seeing what the messages really were and what they meant.

Success is not what everyone wants to see you be and accomplish,

Anything to hinder you and put doubt in you.

Drug dealing in neighborhoods, violence, killings,

Puts a negative connotation of your perception of life.

Living in a bad neighborhood sometimes gives you no hope,

Being mentally strong wasn’t in me from the moment I was born.

Guess I was doomed and I wasn’t able to process a lot of things right away,

But I had to learn quickly how life went and to me it seemed rough.

How do we live life going through struggle so much?

Realizing that sometimes we cause our own struggles.

Drug infested neighborhoods, gangs and territories to protect,

Police officers patrolling every night trying to keep control of it all.

I didn’t grow up seeing a lot of things so it was hard to accept things,

Like how everyone isn’t heterosexual in this world.

When I was a kid, being gay or being called a faggot was normal,

As I grew older and went to different neighborhoods and venues, I saw it more.
