I never thought that this recent bulletin would happen,
But somehow it did and it shook me to the core.
It was a cold, rainy night and we were all on patrol,
We got a call about a domestic violence situation across town.
It was in a minority neighborhood and I knew it would be bad,
Something about rainy nights makes me feel uneasy.
We get to the home and it seemed like nothing was going on,
We walk toward the home and saw the door ajar and we walk in,
Announcing ourselves as we open the screen door, it was silent.
Another police car arrives with two other officers,
They come in and head to the basement to check that area.
