Georgia could not stop staring at her sister. Lounging in Good Scents Max’s recently completed, beyond belief, beauteous garden, Jake surpassed his landscaping ability. The meticulous blueprints, her sister’s transcendent, ethereal impossible vision. Teak wood benches formed a U, plush charcoal-brown cushions, burnt-orange pillows and throws looked organic, and inviting. Georgia argued it was too fancy for a store. Max shook her head whispering, “you’ll see.” Ten foot giant running bamboo planters lined the walls, blue-white lights hung from the wooden slats on the ceiling. Sea foam, turquoise and yellow beach glass chandeliers collected by a little girl over summer breaks at the Cove, danced and dazzled above. It was the second most stunning place she’d ever seen. Max had recreated her intimate, fairy tale rendition of the Cove. Georgia’s hazel eyes beaming, ginger waves worn loose and long, skin glowing, mouth turned slightly upward told Max everything. Georgia’s was the only reinforcement she craved. Jax stirred, scrunching his nose against the cushion. Georgia swiftly adjusted the throw removing it from his chubby cheeks, stroking his back. Jax settled, Georgia looked at Max shrugging her shoulders. Maxine nodded, Georgia had been mothering her since she was born. Maxine wanted to quiet her most of the time, she was infuriating, stubborn and exasperating. She missed her most when she was gone. Georgia pushed Max to live outside the insulated world in her head, pushed her to do things she wouldn’t dare on her own. She was always right, Maxine could dream bigger, go farther, be more without coming apart. Georgia did not treat Max like the others, babied enough by her family.
