Have you ever done something that didn't seem like a big deal at the time but had surprising consequences? It's as if the very act of standing up for yourself, or for someone else gives you courage to do it the next time, and the next.
I've made some decisions to stand up for people who can't stand up for themselves and it has changed me for the better.

Stretching Willow
Her small victory over Josh had two astonishing effects on Riley's life. The first was that other girls in her classes started talking to her, all except Bethany Siever and her posse of pretty girls. Second, Riley started volunteering answers in all her classes. It was as if the one act had released a pent-up confidence. She suddenly felt able to speak out—at least about academics.
