This is an excerpt from the chapter titled "A Ringing Endorsement by the Church?":
It is no accident that God raised up a black man to launch the Azusa revival at the turn of the century or a black preacher to launch the revival of racial unity in the 1960s. Am I saying that it takes a black person to lead the effort? Of course not. The person could be of any race.
The only qualification needed to address the centuries-old issues of racial division in our nation is a heart willing to strive for the racial unity described in Heaven and witnessed at Azusa and the willingness to make political loyalties, subservient to the truth of Scripture…
Dr. King lost his life fighting for the racial unity depicted in the “dream” that God gave him. Today I don’t sense that God is asking our national leaders to lay down their lives. But perhaps He is asking them to lay down their politics, take off their blinders, risk losing viewers and supporters who would rather hoist the banner of their political party and its platform above the cross of Christ.
