Let's Get "MAD"
We've taken American democracy so lightly. We've enjoyed it for so long that it's become commonplace. We've taken it so lightly that we've allowed the person who instigated an attack on the Capitol to prevent the casting of electoral college votes to run for president again. The January 6th attack was arguably the greatest attack on democracy in American history. We have come to value American democracy so little that the person who instigated and then watched the attack is poised to escape a due prison sentence and re-enter the White House for a second attempt. I wrote this book before the January 6th insurrection. It was inconceivable at the time that the disruptive false claims of President Trump could run unchecked by evangelicals and the Republican party to the point of a physical attack on the Capitol while the members of Congress and the Vice President were in attendance. What's even more troubling is that evangelical and Republican leaders have allowed the same lies to be endorsed again in 2024. Who knows what could happen next? Wake up! Wake up America! Let's get angry about this assault on American democracy. Let's get "MAD." Let's "Make American Democracy" great again!

An Unqualified Savior
"It’s hard to describe the denial and even mourning that I have seen by high profile evangelicals and “prophets” after the president lost his re-election bid. They allowed him to remain elevated to such an extent that he became the greatest threat to America’s constitutional democracy since her independence. Even after it was clear that millions of fraudulent ballots had not been cast in multiple states, the president was allowed to proceed with his baseless and disruptive claims against the integrity of the greatest democracy on earth, largely unchecked by evangelical leaders."
Is Condoning Racism a Moral Failure?
" While we are not on the brink of civil war over issues of race as we were before, we are at a level of tension over race that I have only witnessed in movies from the 1950s and ‘60s. Unresolved tensions over the presidential election tend to split severely and evenly across racial lines. With the president in an unyielding and unending quest to prove that his victory was stolen it is easy to see how his continued persistence to stir up his followers could result in physical clashes and further division within the body of Christ. I believe that we should be praying for national leaders to be raised up that can stand in this “breach,” America’s racial divide, and “build up the wall” of unity in the body of Christ before God. I believe that the new mantle of Christian leadership will rest on leaders that can close this breach in the body of Christ."
