Hegseth's Shameful Attack on Women
In my book, I quote Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth who said we shouldn’t pay attention to gender and race and should “set those things aside”: Later, in the book I detail how Hegseth went on a firing spree in which the highest-ranking minority and female military officers were purged. Recently, Hegseth fired Vice Adm. Yvette Davids, the Naval Academy’s first female leader, as part of his purge of high-ranking females. Many white male DEI opponents view DEI simply as a set-aside for less qualified minorities and women. What is forgotten is that DEI’s origins were in the form of protection from the type of blatant racism and misogyny that Hegseth has displayed. In actions, with no proof, Hegseth is saying every top female who has made it to the highest ranks was not qualified to be there. Every one of these fired female leaders on paper is more qualified to do their job than he is, and he knows it. Mr. Hegeseth’s actions are disgraceful. Where are the white men with the influence in government and politics who will call out his shameful actions?
