What awaits us is incomprehensible in its love and majesty. 1Corinthians 2:9 exclaims:
What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived—
are the things God has prepared for those who love him.
Believers can be certain that, in Time, because of Christ’s sacrifice for us, we will pass from our present world of the dying into the thrilling eternal presence of God, clothed in glorious, immortal resurrection bodies. We can look forward to being active, loved and loving members of his family. We can confidently anticipate an awe-inspiring destiny, whether we are still here when Christ returns, or whether we have departed to Paradise earlier. Let’s live in anticipation, like the early Christians:
“The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” (2Timothy 4:18)
“For our citizenship is in Heaven.” (Philippians 3:20)
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In his great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in Heaven for you”. (1Peter 1:3,4)
Who are we really? What is our origin and destiny?
We are God’s Creation in his likeness and image and can be adopted into his family alongside Jesus.
Our destiny then becomes amazing, exciting and secure.
