To the world’s surprise, a tribe of Western Desert Aborigines in Australia was found in 1984 that had never previously seen or heard of white people. The BBC reported in Outlook:
In 1984 a group of Australian Aboriginal people living a traditional nomadic life were encountered in the heart of the Gibson desert in Western Australia. They had been unaware of the arrival of Europeans on the continent, let alone cars–or even clothes.
Imagine if, in the years prior to their first contact, this tribe had found a metal horse stirrup lying on desert sand, lost by an explorer riding across the desert years before. There are accounts similar to this in early literature when the tribe would gather around the mysterious article and discuss it. Perhaps it had fallen from the sky? What was it? What might it be used for?
Despite long deliberations, they could not possibly deduce accurately the function of the stirrup, because they had no experience of riding horses and knew nothing of horses at all. Horses were absolutely outside their world. We are in a similar position regarding Time which exists outside our world.
The same is true of Consciousness, Energy and Love. They were all imported into our world in a simplified form when God created it. Each has been included and adapted for us on Earth, and each is based on what already exists outside our ambience in afterlife Venues. Like the metal stirrup, each has a fuller expression and function outside our Universe than we could possibly comprehend right now! God’s revelation to man is the only possible way for us to glimpse meaningfulness in such intangibles. Science depends on logic and intuition, but can take us only a short distance in our journey towards a more comprehensive understanding because at present it is restricted to studies within our limited Universe.
Christians see the writings that comprise the Bible as God’s inspired gift to us in these matters. Regarding Time, for example, the first sentence in Genesis reads: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth”, which tells us that Time pre-existed what he was creating. This is confirmed elsewhere, such as in Psalm 90:2:
Before the mountains were born
or you brought forth the whole world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
He (Jesus) was chosen before the Creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.
Consider John 17:5. Shortly before Jesus’ crucifixion, he prayed aloud to his Father in Heaven:
“And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began”.
In addition, this verse reveals that prior to the Earth’s formation, Jesus shared the glory of God the Father in Heaven. He then left to join us on Earth, so there was a period of Time during which Heaven was without him. After his death and resurrection, he returned to reside again with his Father in Heaven.
There is no sensible scriptural reason to doubt that Time exists in Heaven outside our Universe and preceded its Creation.
