4. God’s Light during an NDE.
I had a feeling of infinite gratitude as I left my body. I went through a dark tunnel as I focused on the small, dim Light. Instantly, I went to a place where there was infinite peace that was so profound that is why I am not afraid of death now.
I also saw a strong Light by my side. As it got closer to me, I thought it was my father, but it wasn’t him. It was a living Light that brought strong, loving, and peaceful energy. I could never see who it was. He asked me if I wanted to stay or go. I didn’t want to leave that place, but at that moment my mom came into my mind. I thought about how she would feel without me as I have been her biggest support. I didn’t want to see her suffer. I told Him, “I’ll go back and share what I saw with people, even if they don’t believe me.” Then I came back through the same place where I entered.
I knew it wasn’t a dream because I felt everything. I tasted Heaven (Paradise) with my feet and felt something indescribable.
When it was time to come back, the Light of GOD stared at me and talked to me, mind to mind, no words.
The young man continues his account: “I still have side effects from that day…. The material world distracts us from getting closer to the spiritual world.”
SUMMARY OF WHO GOD IS VISIBLY
The accounts above, like thousands of others, illustrate who God indeed is: physically speaking - GOD IS LIGHT!
We see this clearly in scripture, for example in 1John 1:5-7 (NIV): “This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is Light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.” And there are a number of other biblical references to God being Light.
NDErs’ experiences substantiate in line with scripture that God is Light, quite literally, He is Light, shining brightly and with no darkness visible at all in that Light. That is how we will see Him - and from that moment we must be ready to interact with Him.
Our first experience of God in our own afterlife will likely be to see His Light, a brilliant, radiant Light. The old advice to “move towards the Light” stacks up pretty well with much of modern afterlife experience.
Now… what else about God, besides His Light, impacted NDErs when they first met Him?
God’s Light is something NDErs have seen, such that they can agree with fellow NDErs that God is Light. This accords with the scriptures in ways and levels not anticipated by the majority of NDErs, even those who knew already that “God is Light”. His Light is more intense and personal than most expect, and although similar to earthly light, it is more vibrant and much brighter – but without dazzling the eyes such that they need to turn aside from Him.
When you see that intense Light in the afterlife, move towards it - because it signifies God’s presence.
However, there is much more to God than seeing Him shining as that special, extraordinary Light - NDEs illustrate something unseen about God, such that we can confidently state also that GOD IS …. (?)
Besides Light, what else does scripture and our experiences on Earth already reveal God to be?
NDErs again provide interesting insights. They illustrate God’s unseen nature, character and personality, showing us who God actually is.
What is God’s personal unseen dimension? Read on.
