The Charlotte entered the East China Sea, then turned north toward the Korean Peninsula, following the deepest water into the Yellow Sea before making a long sweep to the north-northwest.
“Conn, Sonar,” came the call from ST1 Dawson, the petty officer first class standing sonar watch.
“Sonar, Conn.”
“Captain, I have the signal from the Asheville.”
McGraw looked at his watch. “Signal our rendezvous for 2340 hours.”
“Aye, aye. The message has been sent, sir.”
“Very well. Up periscope.”
Within minutes, McGraw was viewing the surrounding seas. After verifying the area was deserted, he ordered the Charlotte to the surface, then made his way to the forward escape hatch and a huddle of SEALs.
