Here are a few reasons God may have you wait to hear from Him. As I discussed, maybe what you are praying is not His will. Maybe the timing is not right for what you ask. He could be orchestrating things behind the scenes as you wait to receive an answer.
I think of some of the women I dated or liked and how I would lie awake in my bed at night and implore, “Please, Lord. Please make a way for us to be together.”
Looking back, I’m glad He said no. First, I was not ready to be a Godly husband to anybody. Second, she and I would have been miserable if He was not the centerpiece of our lives.
There is a Bible verse in Psalms that used to play as my mother’s outgoing answering machine message. It would drive me crazy waiting for it to finish, but now, after years of experience in life, I understand the importance of waiting on God.
Wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.
When you persevere in your prayers, know there are several reasons why God may have you waiting to hear from Him:
As you wait to hear from God, consider this verse from Isaiah, and hold it close to your heart as you pray.
For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.
This is a promise from God, who cannot lie. Be encouraged in your heart as you wait to hear an answer from God. He is working for your best interest.
Pray with a pure and obedient heart and with unwavering faith. Seek that God’s will be done and keep on praying. Don’t give up. His timing is perfect.
Dear God, I come to you at times weary, hurting, and discouraged. You promise to give me the strength to embrace Your will as I persevere through prayer. May I stand strong in Your holy word, remembering your promises, and resisting the temptation to give up. Refresh my spirit with Your power as I seek You each day. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen.
