When we go to God in prayer with a repentant heart that overflows with faith in Him, He hears and speaks to us. It is usually through His word but also through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The key for us is to listen intently for His leading and to be willing to obey.
Often when we do not get the answer we desire right away, we attempt a “work around” in our own strength. This usually results in costly consequences.
I have struggled with this at times. Either I did not like the answer I received from God, or I grew impatient and tried to do things on my own. This behavior led me to suffer heartache and pain because I was unwilling to trust God’s leading and wait on His timing.
When we abide in Christ (meaning as Christians we seek to do His will), He hears our prayers and answers them in a way that glorifies Him. Our relationship with Christ confirms that we are indeed His children.
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples.
