I had such an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach. I felt miserable all day long, crestfallen. My wave of joy had come crashing down, damaging everything in its path. I returned to my locker and got my sports coat.
What had I done? All this for a jacket that I would wear for only thirty minutes at most that day. My mother had shown me grace in spite of the disappointment evident on her face that morning.
