I think we all relate to being overwhelmed with choices, especially with food. The enticingly packaged, shiny options scream to us from the shelves. Low-fat! Gluten-free! High fiber! The buzz words catch our eye and scream HEALTHY (they're the ones to avoid!). Knowing your "yogurt aisle" is important to avoid the temptations that derail a healthy life.

It Began in the Garden
Have you ever gone grocery shopping with a toddler in tow? How about a toddler and an infant? You can probably relate. There seems to be an unspoken rule that toddlers follow; choices they’re presented with are never as appealing as the ones that are not. Shopping was a challenge in the early days with my first two boys being only fifteen months apart. Even a routine trip to the grocery store was risky. A reward (okay, if we’re honest, it was a bribe) was often offered to Drew if we made it to the checkout lane without incident.
One shopping day, we had three elements combined for the perfect storm. Between Drew the toddler, Alex the colicky baby, and me the sleep-deprived mom, we were a time bomb ready to explode. I could hear the tick getting louder as we approached the yogurt aisle. Being the clever, wise mom I was, I presented Drew with two semi-nutritious options. (Life is all about choices after all, and I was empowering Drew to make them!) Drew would have none of it. The seemingly hundreds of other shiny, colorful yogurts available were just too enticing for him. Once he had fixed his eyes on all the other desirable options, there was no reining in his attention.
I finally laid down the ultimatum. “You can pick one of the two I’m holding, or I will pick one for you.”
