Searching for Self – in Pursuit of Inner Peace

There are two worlds in which we live – the objective outer world and the imaginary inner world inside our heads. Like the replica web pages used in phishing attacks on the Internet, we are duped by our own imaginary inner world which we mistakenly assume to be the objective outer world. Hence, we need to distinguish clearly between reality, and our own impressions and ideas about it, to become aware of what is truly happening in our lives. This power of discernment enables us to pursue mental clarity through the practice of self-observation. Diligent self-observation and complete and unconditional self-acceptance directly reveal to us the unhelpful and destructive thoughts and habits that repeatedly lead us astray.
