Carnal Moon
“Why don’t we sit?” Nick’s eyes still possessed a soft ruby glow as he led them to the couch. “There are things to discuss. Being with a vampire won’t be simple.”
Gwen’s nervousness returned sitting next to Nick. Couch discussions never ended well for her. Their hands rested on his thigh, making her breath quicken. If they moved upwards, she’d be touching his erection, something she longed to do.
“Nothing grave,” Nick started, his eyes fading back to sapphire. “You look as if you’re in the principal’s office.”
Gwen wore a sheepish smile. “Awful news seems to be given to me on the couch. It’s made me paranoid. That’s how I learned of my father’s death and that Marcus was cheating on me. Nothing good comes from couch talks.”
“This isn’t quite so dramatic.” Nick leaned back into the corner of the sofa, his gaze unwavering on Gwen. “There are pros and cons in dating a vampire.”
“Like drinking my blood?” she cautiously asked. “Does it hurt?” Now she saw the tips of Nick’s fangs whenever he spoke. Her skin tingled at the idea of him using them on her. With a bared throat, how tempting was that? And could he smell her blood?
“Vampire bites can be exceedingly painful under the wrong circumstances,” Nick explained. “The greater the sexual arousal for the donor, the more pleasurable the bite. So no, it doesn’t hurt when done properly.”
“Do you enjoy biting people?” Gwen’s cheeks heated, but she forced her gaze to remain focused on Nick. And she enjoyed having her fingers laced through his. There was strength in his firm hold. Now if only she could move her hand farther upwards.
“Not really.” Nick’s eyes turned wicked. “With you, however, that’ll change. And there are other things we can do as well.”
