Because folks insist on buildin’ on the sand, the beach can become a pretty crowded place when the waves get high. So, as we were out there slippin’ down the rollin’ hills of water, we started gettin’ pushed closer and closer to those beach houses. Before long, we found ourselves sort of bobbin’ and weavin’ between pillars of folks’ decks. So, I did what any responsible parent would do. I told the kids to be sure and aim between the houses when they got pushed on into shore.
We had us a big ole time in the water. Some of the full-timers who actually live in the town came on out to look at the waves and sort of stared at us out in the water with the kids. I guess the fact that we were the only ones in the water at the time had somethin’ to do with their curiosity. I couldn’t understand how anyone could let those waves pass on by without gettin’ their boards wet.
