“You did all right, kid,” Danny hollered. “You actually played pretty well. But you didn’t have enough ammo.”
“What?”
“Ammunition. You started with only twenty-eight cents. You were afraid to call big bets.”
Jim nodded and left. He’d enjoyed the game but being bluffed on that last hand stuck in his throat. Not enough ammo, huh? Yeah, well, he wouldn’t make that mistake again. He’d learned his first poker lesson: scared money don’t win. You need a solid bankroll, or you can’t piss in the tall weeds with the big dogs.
