A woman walked down a dimly lit city street, her heels clicking on the sidewalk. It’s late and there are no other pedestrians in sight. She stopped and lit a cigarette, inhaled deeply, then exhaled and continued walking.
A half block in front of her, a man hid in an alley, his back pressed against a wall. He peeked around the corner, watched her approach, then snapped back out of sight. As the woman neared they alley, the man stiffened and prepared to snatch her.
A few blocks away another man walked. He stopped. His eyes darted from side to side. His nose twitched as he sniffed the air. Then, he bolted to the alley and arrived just as the man waiting for the woman grabbed her, put his hand over her mouth, threw her to the ground and ripped open her blouse. The other man leapt at the attacker—transformed in mid-air into a wolf—and tore out the criminal’s throat.
The woman’s eyes bulged with fear, but the wolf slowly backed away with its tail and head lowered, turned and ran away.
