“I think you’re right,” Griswold said. “Especially about the courts. If we write the bill as tough as he wants, somebody’s going to challenge it.”
Stern smiled. “No doubt about it, and that’s why I’m inclined to go along with him. You know my feelings about DiGrasso, Tom. He’s competent and honest. But I despise his politics—small government, free market, antiabortion. If you left it to people like him, Blacks would still be using separate bathrooms, and women would be getting back-alley abortions. So, I’d love to see the governor’s law struck down by the courts, love to see him stew about that.”
