Ellizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy come from two different worlds. She loves her country estate existence. He was born for London's high society. If his aunts have anything to say about it (and they always do), Darcy's future depends on finding a bride with connections to the nobility. Can Darcy and Elizabeth overcome their families, fears, and the constant berating of London's gossipmongers to follow their hearts?
E.M. Storm-Smith is a mother, wife, attorney, former engineer, and started writing purely for herself. A lifelong love of books drove her passion to create something that was all her own. Several years into the journey of writing stories about characters she loved, E.M. decided to take her passions to the world and see what happened.
E.M. lives near Indianapolis, IN and works with nonprofit organizations to increase their reach and meet their financial goals. When she’s not writing, E.M. is spending her time reading others’ books – preferably on a boat with lots of sunshine, traveling (2020 notwithstanding), wandering around Disney World with her son, and cooking things with chocolate as a primary ingredient.
As I was writing this variation, I had to ask myself how would Elizabeth Bennet respond to a Darcy who was a bit more open, whose social anxiety was on full display. And how would she deal with the reality of their difference in station when it was clear that the burden of the marriage mart weighed heavily on Darcy. As friends, Elizabeth and Darcy have to navigate together the stress and expectations of their friends and family.

Cause to Repine
Elizabeth kept telling herself this was just the same as every other ball she had ever attended before, and there was no reason for so many butterflies in her stomach. She also kept telling herself, nearly every time her thoughts drifted in the direction of a certain gentleman from Derbyshire, that her relationship with Darcy was strictly friendly. He was destined for a beautiful, accomplished, titled heiress who would dance this season at Almack’s in a new white silk dress every week. A young woman whom his aunt, who was a Countess, had already specifically identified as his future bride. He could never be interested in a simple country miss wearing a twenty-year-old satin dress, no matter how well she looked in it.
