It’s a normal day for Sunshine as she takes the seat at her desk as receptionist at the Lyden Times until the tragedy of a young nameless woman floods the newsroom. Her head and body covered in bloody gashes and fresh bruises. Sunshine forms an immediate interest and digs into her life. After learning her identity, Eilida, she pokes around her hometown where she is mistaken for Eilida. Soon Sunshine’s world crashes. Everything she loved begins to fade. She trades in her skirts and heels for jeans and sneakers. A ghost avails itself to her and a man with eyes dark as coal stalks her dreams and waking nightmares. Her fiancé worries as he can’t wrap his mind around her transformation yet refuses to let go. Time ticks down as their wedding date approaches on the anniversary of a day that changed Eilida’s life forever…
In this chapter, Sunshine takes a true, good look at her fiance Jerry and realizes his lack of personality and character. Maybe Jerry isn't quite what she thought.
Eye of The Storm: Eilida's Tragedy
Jerry’s house was a simple ranch style three bedroom two bath house. His parents had one of the extra rooms and I got the other. Up to this very moment, I had never considered why we so seldom spent time here. His place was neat, orderly and sparsely accessorized with modern style furnishings. Soon, I would be living here with him. I examined the place with my wifey eyes. The house was cold and impersonal, devoid of anything that might say, “I’m Jerry and this is my humble home”. His walls were near bare with the exception of his forty inch plasma hanging from the living room wall. It is commonly known that your home is a reflection of who you are. At this juncture, I asked myselfwho is Jerry? A one dimensional man.Is this the man I am getting ready to marry?I will have to add some color and life into this dismal but orderly home.
