When we wade into unknown territory, we want concrete data and hard evidence to chart our course through the tricky terrain. But, scientific investigation can lag behind real-world experience, and we don’t have much research on the Spiritual Path to rely on. To safely pursue soul growth, we need to navigate the nebulous space between scientific understanding and blind faith.
Thus, I had to become the scientist of my own life: experimenting, collecting data, drawing conclusions, and then continuing to challenge the conclusions I’d already drawn. And while I never found a source that captured the whole of my experience, I did find reading material on mythology, pop culture physics, spirituality, intuition, and psychology, which lit my Path in their own way.
With this book, I attempt to knit together the threads of our spiritual engagement into one cohesive whole. Intuition, manifestation, and working with the unseen world are all pieces of our overall Relationship with the Universe, our Spiritual Path, and our Soulwork. This is the reference I would have wanted when I first tumbled, unsuspecting, into the unreal world. The process described within is a structured—though unconventional—approach to life that demystifies the spiritual development process, helps you get out of your own way, and supports you in discovering why you are here on Earth.
What Makes Me the Expert?
With what authority do I write this book? Any mainstream publisher worth their salt asks this question. Do I have an expansive CV of impressive credentials? Have I helped thousands of clients across years of professional practice? Do I have a social media platform with millions of followers to whom I can market my material?
I have none of those things.
What I do have, though, is two and a half decades of experience doing this work. And not just doing it, but balancing it with a full-time, demanding career, as a marital partner in a nearly twenty-year relationship, as a mom of two young children, and through an emotionally tumultuous divorce. Ironically, the very thing that would cause most publishers to turn their backs is what makes my book of most value to you: I’m ordinary. Soulwork didn’t take over my life; it helped me create it. If you want to integrate spiritual development with living a practical, comfortable life, my years of practice doing just that provide valuable lessons from the trenches.
I am an ordinary person leading an extraordinary life—and if you aren’t already, you could be, too.
