Neuroplasticity and Hope

Life changes. Accept it. It is what it is. It is this moment that matters. As hard as it may be at times, tell yourself this moment matters, I was rhetorically imparting to a colleague over lunch one day. We are both healthcare professionals. She is a physician and I am a psychologist. We were discussing the importance of sitting with our patients in their moment of suffering rather than just treating a disease. We both understand the alchemy of presence. You sit and you listen. You wait for them to find their wholeness within themselves and assure them that even in their brokenness there is the sacred.

With philosophical calm, we discussed the hopelessness of the chronically ill, and how lack of hope is a type of violence because it creates a paralysis of will on the individual’s mind, since any healing process is initiated as a product of Consciousness. Consciousness is all there is we agreed. It is the ground of your being. There is nothing but Consciousness. Everything is initiated from Consciousness. Quantum medicine as informed by quantum physics instructs us how energy and communication between the interacting systems can happen instantly without a visible linear pathway. A large quantum sequential jump, or discontinuity, occurs with non-local signals among these dimensions.

My colleague then remarked passionately, “I do not believe that as physicians we should give a prognosis to our patients because once they have it, they want to do what the doctor told them will happen.” Without realizing, my colleague was discussing quantum entanglement. When a doctor and a patient fail to act as a unit, together they become dysfunctional. But when one is in touch with one’s own inner sovereignty and pair this authenticity with a spoken hopefulness, this will jumpstart the patient out of limitations and spiritual emptiness. The doctor’s awareness then becomes the eyes through which the patient begins to see the physical world. Observations of potential can be transformative because empowering others is the biggest gift we have to give. This unified Consciousness becomes like a pendulum downplaying one level and highlighting another.

I shared with my colleague the same view about the damage that comes with broadcasting a perceived prognosis and provided an experience of a family member who was recently diagnosed with very advanced esophageal cancer. Whenever the physician wanted to give Mark the prognosis, he put up his hand and insisted, “I don’t want to know it. This is not the end I can assure you. This is only the beginning. I will survive this.” Mark knew at some very deep level that where fear exists, healing cannot. He sensed that if he changed his thinking, he could change his life course - - epigenetics at its best. Blood composition controls the genetic response of the cells, and thoughts affect blood composition, which then affect cells.

Mark’s cancer ravaged his esophagus and lymph nodes with a very large cancerous tumor perched between his stomach and esophagus. On the seemingly hopeless day of January 24th, an MRI showed no change after intensive chemotherapy and radiation in Mark’s grave and very advanced esophageal cancer. On that same day, I segued myself into Mark’s healing process and began a crash course with him, remotely, in alternate nostril breathing to aid in bringing both sides of his body into balance, primordial sound meditation to affect the cellular level, and reiki, activities to which Mark had no exposure. No further reliance on machines and drugs, but Consciousness. Then in the spirit of quantum entanglement, I instilled hope by continuously reassuring Mark that once he meditates and treats himself with reiki daily, that his physicians were going to be most surprised when they opened him for surgery. There is no such thing as false hope!

On February 13th, three weeks after the last MRI showed no change in the imaging results, Mark’s surgery took place and surprised they were! His medical team found no sign of a tumor, no cancer in his lymph nodes, and only a small section of his esophagus needed to be surgically excised with anastomosis. Confident expectation of a cure does what no medical treatment will ever accomplish. Mark had eradicated his cancer by partnering with Consciousness through two quantum technologies, meditation and reiki, and shifted the paradigm! He used his mind and hands as a jumper cable to connect the circuitry and rebuild the grid. His pathology report also showed no sign of cancer.

Mark was stronger than his misfortunes. While his physical form took time to make the changes, his mind changed instantly and envisaged the direction in which it needed to go and coach the body. Mark made changes in neural pathways due to changes in his thinking and behavior – neuroplasticity in action! I recall Mark saying to me regarding the quantum energy healing modalities, “What did I have to lose!?” He said he felt empowered to be able to participate in his own healing “….and I honestly believe I could feel changes taking place in my body every time I meditated and performed reiki!”

These felt “shifts” were the clustering of atoms, as a result of his mind’s intentions, which resulted in increased levels of energy vibrating within Mark’s system. These shifts activated throughout the system began to create new connections for Mark, throwing off old negative imprints and creating new neural pathways. These higher energy flows created a reorganization, since the new patterns cannot be contained in the old structure.

Meditation became Mark’s microscope for inner exploration. In this transcendent state, Mark became capable of profound change. He became pro-active and receptive. He became the causal agent of motion. He listened to his inner voice and refused to live in the straightjacket conventional assumptions surrounding his medical condition because he realized there was a dangerous blindness in accepting the prevailing view of society and that of the conventional medical community. This inner pollution is the collective disease of our planet. Being in the here and now transmutes the status quo. This moment matters! The more Mark meditated, the more he saw the limitations of the conventional conditioned mind. He modified, abandoned and transcended existing concepts.

Mark’s mind became the artist that produced his wholeness. He walked through the doorway of his own integrity to support his healing with determination and perseverance. He was relentless in becoming self-active and self-sufficient. He refused to be reduced into a corporeal entity and absorb the psychotic limiting interpretations surrounding his condition imposed upon him by the dominant medical view. He knew he had super- sensible ideas of his own beyond the duality of psyche and soma. Self- determination, not external compulsion, is an idea that anticipates.

Mark played all the notes in his orchestra and brought about healing out of his chaos. He stopped outward gaze for direction and discursive chatter; and, rather, chose to draw on cellular potential and tapped into infinite possibilities. He dared to wake up from culture’s hypnotic dogma, which renders a person into a trance and is one of disempowerment and limitations.

When Mark actively practiced reiki, an energy-based Consciousness hands- on healing technology that has the capability for tremendous personal healing and transformation, it resulted in major changes in his belief system. He offered that he could actually feel the healing come through the palms of his hands. As I treated Mark with reiki at the University of Michigan Medical Hospital after surgery, I watched the heart monitor go from 87 to a steady 65. As nursing staff watched Mark’s monitors from their station, a family member overheard one nurse affirm, “Look at how relaxed Mark becomes during reiki!” The University of Michigan now readily makes reiki available for those who request it. Mayo Clinic uses reiki as a supportive healing modality to manage pain for patients during hemodialysis. They have seen the outcomes.

A study was done measuring the effect of healing touch on the properties of pH, oxidation-reduction balance, and electric resistance in body fluids. They linked these two factors to biological age only. The biologically determined age of the touch treated group before treatment was 62. However, after treatment for the same group, the biologically mathematically determined age was 49!

Reiki is a doorway into the healing world, but it also gives you greater control over your health and your destiny by opening to the limitless energy around you and channeling this energy through the palms of the hands to shift energy into the body. Reiki is guided by Consciousness to create depth, breadth, and natural healing. It came through Mark’s heart in a simple and sincere manner.

The organization of reiki is holographic. In addition to using mind and breath, it also uses symbols as part of the healing process. Each symbol reflects the greater wisdom of the whole. Reiki with the symbols attunes you to a higher vibration. In reiki there is a power and focus symbol (cho ku rei), harmony and emotions symbol (sei hei ki), master and distance symbol (hon sha ze sho nen), kundalini symbol (dumo), and grounding and completion symbol (raku). These symbols are used for protecting and healing self and others on an emotional and spiritual level.

Unfortunately, this healing modality has become adulterated by numerous offshoots springing up, as to make reiki unrecognizable and complex. I taught reiki to Mark in its original simplicity. Reiki heals through stillness and simplicity. Mark gave it his wholehearted attention three times a day and became a bridge for transforming his body one cell at a time. Then he waited in stillness. The waiting was a tuning in, not tuning out. Mark became so lost in the silence, as he sat in a pool of Divine presence, that he became lost to everything else on Earth. His hands became the conduits for Consciousness. He became the instrument of ultimate artistic sensibility. All one needs is one experiential referent to make sense of reiki and its profound transformative healing energy.

Reiki plugged Mark into the energy dance of the Universe, a power so great that all other powers are a pale shadow beside it. Through reiki, Mark became the expression of the Infinite, the electromagnetic flux field of Universal Mind. The preludes and fugues of reiki healing are a complex arrangement of Divine Wisdom. I have successfully brought reiki back to its authentic simplified form and away from the “stamps,” “twists”, or “additions” that so many practitioners have added for financial gain. The simplified form is justly a course in enlightenment.

All healing is a product of Consciousness, and meditation and reiki healing are based on the science of physics, the study of energy directed by Consciousness and intention. They fuel a change in energy. It is a change that you, and only you, can create in yourself. An intention on your part alters the chemistry and energy of your being. Healing is not simply a product of medication and surgery. The latter are helpful symptom resolutions, but they are an incomplete approach that only treats the physical and not the quantum subtle bodies that are the downward manifestations of Consciousness from which all healing is initiated. Healing is a quantum phenomenon. Mark’s experience exemplifies how quantum healing through mind, energy, and breath can be converted or transduced into another form. You hold within yourself the transformative and regenerative power to make yourself what you will. “Every human being is the author of his own health or disease,” we are reminded by Buddha.

You have the ability to objectify any imbalance with the recognition that the imbalance is the priority of the material body and not Consciousness. With this understanding is how “miracles” take place. If you can get out of your own way and sit with your physical form in silence and talk to your organs, which store all the memories from your life, you would then achieve deep resonance with every cell and every organ and facia of your body. Exploiting the unlimited possibilities of meditation and reiki for healing, which are accessible to all and are non-invasive, you can create definitive changes from the cellular level all the way to all the major regulatory mechanisms, i.e. telomere length, inflammatory markers, and cell repair to name a few. This way, you affect the epigenetic landscape without becoming consumed with genes. You have a pluripotential environment in your body that is very fluid. You can readily affect it - - in silence. Sit in silence, talk to your organs, which have a Consciousness of their own. Then, just LISTEN to the voice of silence. The voice of the soul and the voice of silence is the breath! Follow the ins-and-outs of breath. Receive intuition and a knowing of what is needed. When you ask for what you need, there is a response.

Refuse to settle for a “normal” consciousness because failure can only occur if you create an antagonistic auto-suggestion as a result of doubt. Furthermore, do not be willing to wait for some external power to do the work for which you are responsible. Break away from herd mentality and infantile fixation. Consciousness lives in the timeless present and is available for your healing. Meditate to prepare yourself with an inner readiness so that you can become quiet enough to perceive this deep Source within yourself through the reiki work. Meditation and reiki are two time-honored systems which bring change and which are safe and inner-directed and often without the expense of other healing modalities. These two technologies require no expensive instruments, no invasive procedures nor pharmacological treatments.

Through these technologies you will admit new information which will form new neural connections and enlarge your awareness as you leap forward. You will display that there is no limit to your consciousness except those created by your own thinking! Your higher Consciousness has a perennial wisdom not explainable by atomic sensory means. It discloses that spatio-temporal limitations are merely optical illusions! The more you practice these technologies, the more you provoke growth and changes in the cellular and molecular structure of your body, and the more you form new neural pathways. Mark knew he was not a robot of medical limitations. He continues to be cancer free.

To maximize even further the benefits of reiki, one might want to pair up reiki with chronobiology, referring to the day-night cycle which affect the human body and which tells us that the flow of energy, chi, is best at specific times of the day. There tends to be a clock-like pattern of energy that moves through your different organs and associated meridians on a predictable two- hour cycle. A type of internal rhythm one might say. The time, perhaps, when the nutritive subtle life-energy is moving the best, might be the optimal time to treat a particular organ for maximum benefits. The precise timing of a treatment can have a more potent effect on the target organ. Groundbreaking research is now coming through on chronobiology and chronopharmacology. Chronobiology is finding its place in the fields of genetics, endocrinology, oncology, sports medicine and even psychology. The timelines for maximum energetic output look like this, Dr. Richard Gerber, M.D. in his book Vibrational Medicine, informs us:

If there is a specific focus on any particular organ, this chronobiological time calendar might be useful to consider if the times are at all feasible for the practitioner. For instance, if you are having stomach issues, doing reiki with yourself or acupuncture with a practitioner around 8 a.m. might be the most optimal time for the best therapeutic results.

Not only is being familiar with the chronobiological clock useful for merging reiki and acupuncture, but significant utility is being discovered for the administration of chemotherapeutic agents. Giving it at an optimal time might reduce toxicity levels for the cancer patient. At this point with its yet limited research, it is appearing that early morning hours may very well be the optimal time to administer cancer related drugs. This biological clock is certainly associated with our subtle energy systems. The more you learn about energy philosophies that are available to you from quantum medicine rather than conventional medicine, the more options you have for healing your body naturally and the more hope you provide yourself for natural organic healing. Return to healing with energy not drugs.

Let us not forget that hope is restorative and biological. Quantum medicine, quantum entanglement and neuroplasticity offer real hope. Hope and health go hand-in-hand. Something deep inside your cells responds positively when you feel hope. Hope is real and physiological and affects the immune system. People’s beliefs about themselves affect their ability to get well. Despair, caused when an individual feels there can be no hope of solving his problem by his own actions, dissipates energy from the bodily storehouse in the brain without conscious direction poisoning all the different cellular groupings of which body organs are composed. On the other hand, hope empowers an individual and replaces the energy funds, as it is the antitheses of despair.

Hope extended to a patient allows the patient to see his issue in a different light, undo the imbalance and create a space for a different form. This discernible link between doctor and patient sets the stage for collaborative work. There is no higher or lower level, no hierarchy between doctor and patient. The movement goes back and forth between the two people to allow for a leap in healing by returning to the starting point, our original level – Oneness – by being together in the collective. Both blend and become one with each other so that the two create an endogenous oscillation of vibration and an intense relational space by synchronizing their nervous systems. It is a unitary experience of two people doctor and patient, from which limitless healing can take place. It is quantum entanglement enhancing neuroplasticity. Health care professionals, therefore, must not barricade themselves with an invisible pretentious wall. We need to be open to the alchemy that happens in being together, the transformative chemistry that becomes the spiritual dance of life. My eyes became the eyes through which Mark saw himself, the physical world and his potential.

We need to shift from a reductionistic intervention of drugs and surgery, and move into an integrative quantum approach to health, which broadens the scope of recognizing cellular potential ignited by hope and awareness of our consciousness, and empowering and partnering, rather than dismissing, our patients. Miracles are a quantum phenomenon and available to all of us if we dare to wake up and let our embryonic Consciousness evolve from Homo Sapiens to Home Spiritualis. You have the potential for greatness and unlimited abilities. Do not keep yourself small. Rewire your brain by changing your thinking and redefining your awareness. There is a better way to live.
