When the doorbell rang, it came as a welcomed distraction and a frustration at the same time. He allowed the tie to hang, untied, around his neck while he went to the door. He didn’t care at this point.
When he opened the door, he saw Julie and Doni standing on the front porch. Julie was wearing a very flattering evening gown and Doni was in a very nice girl’s dress. Tom’s mouth dropped open when he saw Julie. He didn’t move, couldn’t move or say anything. He just stared. His most basic of instincts kicked in and at that point, his earlier question was answered, he was, indeed, in love.
Julie smiled. “Do you need help with your tie?” she chuckled.
Tom nodded, but still said nothing.
“Would you like me to come in and help you, Tom?” Julie asked.
Again, Tom nodded
“Well, you’ll have to let me get by you if you want me to come in and help. You’re kind of blocking the doorway,” Julie felt good at the reaction that Tom had to the way she looked.
Tom, finally regaining his senses, replied, “Oh. OH! Sorry. Um, yes please, um come in. You both look amazing!”
