“I don’t care what might happen.” the Governor said. “I’ve never felt right here. I’ve always felt out of place. In the wrong era. I’ve always wanted to go back to a simpler time. If you want to take the POD, you’ll have to take me with you.”
Andrew started to pace. He started talking out loud, trying to figure out what to do. “I can’t be responsible for your safety, Governor. I’m not even sure what it would do to us! I can’t risk hurting either myself or Matt. This is a bad situation.”
“You have no choice, Mr. Barton,” the Governor said. “If you don’t agree to take me, I will have a platoon of secret service here before you can blink. Then neither of us will get to your time.”
Andrew stopped pacing and stood quietly, then said in resignation, “I guess I have no choice then but to honor your request.”
“You do have a choice, Andrew. Taking her back would be a grave mistake.” The voice seemed familiar to Andrew and yet strange at the same time. Before he had a chance to look in the direction of this new voice, he heard Matt say, “Either I’m going crazy or the evil Andrew is back!”
