Gary pulled his shirt over his head and watched as Stacy walked into the bathroom to get ready. “How can any one organization think that they can have that kind of power over others?”
“Because they think that the plan is the way to guide mankind to a better end,” Stacy said. “The Society is responsible for so many successes and failures in the world. You have no idea. I’m sure that you’ve looked around and wondered why some people make it and others don’t? Why two people under the same circumstances can have the same things happen to them and only one survives.”
“The Society is responsible for that?” Gary asked.
“Almost every fortune that every person experiences is due to the Society.”
“That’s hard to believe,” Gary said. “For some reason I can’t believe that my winning the coloring contest when I was five was because of the Society.”
“It was a contest?” Stacy asked.
“It was judged by someone, I’m sure. Have you ever wondered why it is that so many people have all of the luck? Why so many people seem to win things constantly and you never do? Everything is controlled by someone.”
