The 7 Secrets to Essential Speaking
Three women who took workshops with me illustrate this unfortunate reality. Each had been living a remarkable and unique existence and had a desire to tell her story but held back from stepping into the limelight. One, the wife of a murdered underground political leader, was asked by a community organization to portray her involvement with a radical group active during the 1960s, but she was too nervous about her speaking skills to do so. Another, who had discovered a resourceful approach to living with dyslexia, wanted to spread her good news—until her stage fright stopped her short. And a successful doctor who had developed an unprecedented system of managing menopause was uncomfortable before audiences of any size.
