“And there’s no weapons control, so we’re sitting ducks,” King added.
“What are our options?” Edwards asked.
“This passenger cabin is an escape pod,” Mason said. “Once detached, it becomes a shuttle. But it doesn’t hold enough fuel to take us back to Earth. It was meant to be a short-distance rescue vessel. With no power systems online, though, it won’t work.” He looked into their faces. “Any other suggestions?”
“I’ll keep working on the emergency communications system. Maybe I can get it running,” Balt said.
“I’m going out there, take a look at the master control unit. Maybe I can salvage it,” Mason said.
“No. It’s gone, torn to bits. Nothing left to save,” Jim translated for Balt.
“How about the engine?”
“Completely missing.”
