His thoughts drifted to his former life. Seems like years since I left mom’s apartment. Even longer since I was in college. Tears filled his eyes as he imagined his family still looking for him. Will I ever see them again? Or my friends? A picture of Christine flashed into his mind—her sparkling blue eyes, her blond hair in one long braid behind her, her soft touch. How he longed to be with her again.
Then there was Jim. Had he proposed to Marcy? If only I could be with them, me and Christine double-dating with them.
Have classes at CU-Boulder started? Haven’t been here more than a couple weeks, but they should be starting soon. Will I ever get out of here to finish my Master’s Degree?
Here was his reality now. He noticed that his hands were at his sides, and whatever he held was dripping down his leg and onto his foot. His basket was only half full, and he had to fill five before he was allowed to eat lunch.
