Sleep finally came, but not the deep, healing slumber he hoped for. The dream was back. It started with a wall of flames shooting up from the earth and overtaking a distant city.
Then he saw them—Marcy and Christine with their hands high above their heads secured in some kind of shackles. They were screaming, their faces filled with pain and fright. On both sides of them stood long lines of people. He could not make out their faces, but their hands were also bound.
It was as if he were standing on a high pinnacle looking down at the destruction of the world. Flames sent burning embers flying around the line of people. They were in some kind of vehicle flying faster and faster away from him. No matter how fast they traveled from him, he could see Marcy’s and Christine’s terrified faces.
