Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” (John 21:22).
Jesus said things that may seem harsh to us. His statement above has always seemed that way to me. Did our Lord love John more than He loved Peter? Perhaps Peter may have still been feeling guilt over denying Christ three times. Jesus had just revealed to him that he would be crucified. But John would get to remain alive until Jesus returned?
That is the way Peter interpreted what Jesus said .However, Jesus was not talking to John. He was talking to Peter about Peter. What Jesus told Peter meant no matter what you have done in the past, no matter what will happen to you in the future, follow Me.
