Jeremy was sitting in a big arm chair with his feet resting on its extension. “Isn’t this fun, you coming to me like this? Tell me what you know, Paul.”
“That Susi lady is trying to change what happened all those years ago. You know she can’t do that, what do we do?”
“I need to know everything, so start at the beginning.”
Paul hated having to consult Jeremy. His pompous attitude left Paul feeling ill, and watching the certainty in Jeremy grow had affected him in a disturbing way. He felt himself relying on him more each day. He relayed the story Bobby had told him, and then waited for some ideas from him.
After all they’d meant to each other over the years, they had a special bond, knowledge of a brutal murder, and of why they were in Mazatlán.
