In prison, Quinton had targeted David Moss, realizing after a few encounters that the man was susceptible to his new skills. Quinton realized that he would be able to use David Moss to help carry out his outrageous plot for revenge, a plan that took him twenty years to set in motion, and another five to implement. Like Quinton, David Moss had been convicted for murdering his lover’s husband. Naturally, this made Quinton’s job easier. Befriending David Moss had been a simple task, and later, when they became close, David Moss was easy to work with.
After studying religiously during his first five years in his new home, Quinton had become knowledgeable in the area of psychological studies and hypnosis. This, combined with his natural charisma, brought him closer to his ultimate goal, the one thing that had kept him sane since the beginning of his life in prison. He was consumed with getting his revenge on Gloria Templeton, a woman he’d given his heart to, only to watch her leave him for an old man. Her contempt had ruined him, but he was back. His confidence was high, and he had a fierce reason for living—destroy the woman.
Quinton had an idea, and had convinced David Moss that together, they could successfully ruin the hotel mistress, Gloria Templeton. Quinton was smart, and had played with David Moss’s head through hypnotic techniques for a few years before telling him about the scheme he’d developed, his proposal to ruin her hotel. During the years they spent together, he slowly persuaded David Moss into believing he was Quinton. As David Moss began to take on the new identity of the man he’d grown to love, the excitement of their scheme delighted him. It kept his hope alive, that one day the two of them would carry out their perfect crime. But most of all, he loved the idea of his taking on the characteristics of his friend, this elated him. He and Quinton had morphed into one. David Moss learned about Quinton’s past and the people he’d known. Quinton did a masterful job with the man. It had been like prepping David Moss to portray himself in a movie production.
The next phase of Quinton’s plan was to study together each day so they would both be able to come off as trusted doctors at their convention.

After twenty years, Quinton was released to the outside world because of good behavior, leaving David Moss behind. To David Moss, he was no longer whole with Quinton gone. But his alter ego had taken care of that problem. Quinton had planned every detail, and sure enough, as he had promised, David Moss was out a few months later. David Moss lived with Quinton for a short while, making it easy for Quinton to get his prints on the knife.
On the night of the pizza party, David Moss went to the address given to him, ecstatic to see his friend, or counter-part as he believed. There was a terrible storm that night, and when he arrived, a festive air filled the apartment. It was to be a poker party, but he soon learned that Quinton had murdered the host.
