No Fear!

“Ouch!” Jimmy gave his wife a bewildered look. “What?” Mori had kicked him and had a strange look on her face.

“His eyes, did you check?” She looked at Gloria and told her that they wanted to do some research on Paul Goodfriend. “He doesn’t look like Cue at all but sure does have his eyes. Jimmy an’ I are thinkin’ he might be related in some way.” She looked at the other guests and apologized for talking about a person that none of them knew.

Lila elbowed Miguel and said to the others, “Miguel and I spoke with the doctor today and I am sorry to say this about your friend, but we believe he is not who he says he is. We believe that he’s faking his credentials. We have both spent time studying regression through hypnosis, and he clearly didn’t understand our questions we had for him.”

“Where’s your computer, Gloria?” Jimmy’s internal alarm was making the hair on his back stand up. “Chief, can you help me? I’ll find a phone number on the computer, but it would be better if you made the call to the Idaho State Prison. This Cue guy is there for the murder of Gloria’s husband. Maybe we can find out if he has a brother or close relative.”

The comandante wasn’t used to taking orders, but in this case, didn’t feel offended. The two of them went into Gloria’s office and began their work. It didn’t take long for them to learn that Quinton had been released over five years ago. The guests at the table had all lost their appetites and had silently waited to hear from the men in Gloria’s office. When they heard Jimmy yelling profanities, they knew that something was very wrong.

It was then that Gloria nearly fell. Her head became light, and she could barely speak. Diego helped her to the couch and Fernando handed her some water. She drank the entire bottle and then looked at the comandante. “Emma told me earlier today that Paul knew Ben and Katie. In fact, he called Emma by Katie’s name. And when she asked him how he knew them, he said that I must have told him.” She looked at Jimmy and Mori, “I never mentioned them to him.”
