The young men at the table stared at her in disbelief before breaking out into loud laughter that could be heard as far away as Templeton’s table. “You’re either crazy, or this is a joke,” the leader spoke for them.
She abruptly rose out of her chair. “Ok, I’ll keep lookin’. Thanks for your time.” And turning around, she began to make her way to another table.
The spokesperson jumped out of his chair and ran to head her off. “Don’t go so fast, pretty lady.” He put his arm around her and led her back to their table, coaxing her back into her seat. “You’re serious, aren’t you?” He bent over her chair, whispering his words.
Gloria felt that familiar smug feeling come over her, and knew that she had them.
