Suddenly, there were screams and then more gunshots, and a crowd of people dressed in late nineteenth century clothing gathered where the sounds had come from. Ben laughed, and took Katie’s arm. “Sweetheart, it’s a street play. I forgot to tell you about this, you’ll love it.”
Katie felt wild with anticipation and ran next to him until they reached the scene. Two cowboys were pointing guns at each other, one man was on the ground wounded. It was very dramatic and a treat that Katie loved. It went on for another twenty minutes, and when all was done, the bad guy lay dead on the ground and the sheriff had pretty girls on each arm, kissing his cheeks. Tourists clapped and then began scattering.
“Ben, that was so much fun, and such a brilliant idea. I’ll bet this helps with business around here.” Her last words were slow and it was clear that she was off somewhere else for a few minutes when her face lit up. “Ben, we’ll do this in the Sticks parking lot, I can organize it when we get back.”
“Katie, you just can’t turn that place completely off, can you? Actually, it’s a pretty good idea. Let me know what I can do to help. But now, we’re on a vacation from work, so let’s see if we can’t find a romantic place to dine.”
They walked down the street, holding hands, and anyone who saw them would know that they were two people in love.
