Glow with the Season
Winter makes its appearance on December 21st and lingers until around late March or sometimes longer in various parts of the country. Longer nights and shorter days beckon us indoors for warmth, nourishment and protection. In order to be protected and nourished until sprouting time in Spring, Nature sends her energy deep into the earth. This season brings much needed rest and regeneration for both the soil and the body. It’s a time to reflect on the past and anticipate the future. Nature’s landscape reveals a bareness unknown to the other seasons. Winter touches our senses in many curious ways. Bundle up; it’s Winter.
I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure in the landscape—the loneliness of it—the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it—the whole story doesn’t show. ~Andrew Wyeth, 20th century painter
