Chris Nadherny is a nationally respected executive recruiter who spent 30 years at Spencer Stuart, one of the world's top executive recruiting firms. "If only I'd read this book earlier!" That is the reaction I inevitably receive from professionals once they have read THE PROACTIVE EXECUTIVE.
So often, it's what they don't recognize, know or realize that makes career advancement so challenging. The simple truth is that a majority of professionals under manage or unintentionally mismanage their careers.
Getting through school is easy...relative to challenges of thoughtfully managing a career! THE PROACTIVE EXECUTIVE is like having a professional coach at a fraction of the cost to show you the way and guide your thinking and next steps. I can't think of a more thoughtful and valuable Christmas gift to give an aspiring professional than the guidance, insights and actions in this book.

The Proactive Executive
I also observed the missteps taken by many bright, well-educated and energetic executives. For the most part, these missteps were avoidable—the result of poor decisions, improper career planning and insufficient career management. Lack of effective career management almost always has a detrimental impact on an executive’s career advancement, job satisfaction, and earnings potential. Yet, so often, promising professionals don’t have the career guidance or broader real-world perspective that are so beneficial. That is why, after retiring from Spencer Stuart in 2015, I set about writing a practical, actions-based reference book to help aspiring and C-suite executives optimize their career management. This discipline has not, for the most part, been taught by our education system at any level. Instead, we painfully learn these lessons through the schoolof hard knocks.
