“I know what you do,” Cedwyn said quietly.
She looked at him.
“You marry King Arthur and become Queen Guinevere.” He grinned. “Then you make me a squire. You have to be a squire, you know, before you can be a knight,” Cedwyn stated. “Then when I’m ready, King Arthur will be able to make me a knight.”
“So, you think I should marry King Arthur. And what if I decide that I do not want to marry him? What then?”
“But how can you do that?”
“I don’t know, but I bet I can,” she said, although Merlyn’s words about being unable to pick her future kept poking into her thoughts. Also, the vision of the unicorn fading away with Nimue kept pushing its way into her mind along with Arthur’s smile.
“My mum tells me that children must always obey their parents ‘cause they are older and know better,” he said.
“But I don’t know Arthur. I don’t even know if I would like being a queen.”
“But don’t you like being a princess?”
She nodded.
“Then, you should like being a queen.”
