Welcome to a Small Slice of My World!
My book series, One Room at a Time, started with a single thought. My thought.
It began early one morning with seven splashes of cold water over my face, then a reach for my toothbrush. The circular motion of toothbrush bristles required water. As I watched the water swirl down the drain, I wondered how much water was wasted while performing my morning routine. I consciously conserve water. Does everyone follow this practice?
With toothbrush still in hand, I looked up at the mirror. As my eyes shifted, each blink captured a quick snapshot of compositions behind me. Sitting atop the pearlized golden glass tile on the bathtub surround were three shimmering round hatboxes that formed a three-tiered structure. The top box showcased six rolled, white voguish bath towels branching up and outward like flowers on a stem.
The toilet room door, slightly ajar, exposed a glimpse of illumination radiating from the Tuscan pendant light fixture enveloped in intricate gold filigree artwork and accented with pale-cream scavo glass. A fluffy white, tone-on-tone cotton bath mat was positioned just outside the shower door, ready to absorb the drips from ten sopping toes. The nine-inch-tall freestanding mermaid mirror perched atop a quirky chest of mini glass drawers granted a subtle passing glance. Each mental snapshot became an inspiration for this first book in the series: The Bathroom.
I reminisced about various stages of pulling this bathroom all together. I embraced my intentions and created selections that led to the final design. You see, there is so much more than what meets the eye. The overall design process involved being conscious of what I breathe, touch, and hear, how I feel, and why I freely enter the bathroom to Release, Renew, Revitalize (3Rs).
It did not stop there, for once the final touches were in place, the need to maintain balance and harmony became essential. Daily, weekly, monthly, and semi-annual rhythmic rituals were part of the plan. These were the necessary ingredients to surround myself in an environment that continually supports a fulfilling journey to a beautiful Eco-Conscious, Healthy-Living Lifestyle.
As I stood leaning against the vanity, creative ideas began to flow freely. I imagined writing a book to guide others beyond my circle of immediate influence. The desire tugged at my heart and strengthened with time. My thoughts began to appear as my pencil glided across the paper, forming one word at a time. Excitement stirred!
