Dancing with the Dolphins
As I swim in the waves I realize that the dolphins are there in front of me. I stop, afraid that I might scare them away, but they aren’t bothered by me. Tentatively I reach out to touch them but it is I who am more afraid of them then they are of me. Swimming with wild dolphins… incredible and remarkable.
Dolphins all around me. My excitement rises. I watch a dolphin jump out of the ocean and splash playfully. They seem to be laughing as they ride the waves. I cannot help but feel playful jumping up and down in delight. I am playing in the waves with the dolphins along side of me. I am in heaven with all of God’s creatures. I am finding fun once again.
Playfulness is an important part of retaining who we are. If we lose our ability to laugh and play we lose our creativity and imagination that bring magic and wonder into our life.
Each time I see a dolphin it is magical. Life is magical. More importantly, I feel safe and protected. I know that dolphins keep the sharks away. I know they would protect me from one if it came my way. Dolphins are gentle and kind animals but they can kill a shark and will defend you from it if need be.
Dolphins are social creatures. They interact and play with each other and travel together. I listen to them communicating with clicks to each other as they jump and ride the waves. I wonder what they are saying to each other and what they might say to me.
I want to share this fun with friends. I realize how important social contact and interaction is to my sense of self. It is an important part of life to share experiences together. I am beginning to understand why connection with others is so important to me.
If I understand this will it help to dissipate my fear of being alone? For I never am truly alone when I have the sea beside me.
This Dance is one of fun, playfulness and delight. The steps are light, magical, silly, teasing and mischievous. The steps intermingle with other’s steps, connecting to and dancing with each other.
