Nicole says, “Reviewing the options will help Erik and I feel more confident and ask more personalized questions when working with a professional. So, let me thank you for that, for both of us, right now.”
Jodi is visibly moved, if not confused, by the unexpected appreciation.
Erik elaborates on the surprising direction of the conversation. “Honestly, Mom, we were not that interested in being part of another CPT after we got Grandma and Grandpa’s plan done.”
“When you said that you and Dad wanted to redo the three steps to avoid being rushed into a solution that you may not like or want, we felt obligated,” Nicole admits with a look of apology. “But we also wanted to be supportive,” she quickly adds.
“But at the end of the day,” Erik adds, “we all got something out of it.”
Nicole continues, “We enjoyed being included, value what we have learned, and now realize what to consider for ourselves. We didn’t appreciate what an essential role extended or LTC plays as part of planning for a more secure financial future. Hopefully, using a plan for care is way off in the future, but it may not be.
