Jodi and Jackson have an advisor whose father suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease. Fortunately, the advisor’s sister was a nurse and handled their dad. But Alzheimer’s patients require more care and supervision than can generally be handled at home, so eventually they found a facility for him. After he was settled in, which was a struggle since change is often very difficult for Alzheimer’s patients, he had a health incident that caused him to be admitted to the hospital. They lost the bed in the facility. They had to keep their dad in the hospital much longer than needed until they finally found another facility that would take him and accommodate his needs. It wasn’t conveniently located for either one of his children. Plus, changing his facility again was unsettling for him, and them.
Wanting to move on, Jackson says, “Honey, let’s get your father and the kids to form the Care Planning Team and start the discovery process. It would allow us to work together to investigate, research, and work with agents, advisors, or specialists to secure a viable plan.
