“When she calls out, the trap, buoy and line all have to be thrown at the same time. Then wait for her to call out again. Make sure you toss it all away from the boat. We don’t want anything to get tangled in the prop.”
“All the traps?” Don questioned.
“All the traps, and Paula will make a big circle, could be a couple of miles in diameter, and then we go back to the first one and pick it up.” She nodded to the gaff. “Snag the line, pull it in, wind it on the winch, it’s a lot easier than trying to grab it hand over fist. When you have the trap up, empty it into the box—and so on until all the traps are in and then if there’s time and space we do it all over again.”
