The Sneaky Freaky begins in 1966, in the fishing town of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina. Naomi's husband is fighting in Vietnam. The sight of Courthouse Bay, Camp Lejeune, from her window reminds her every day of that fact. The reality of the war is everywhere. It's on the nightly news, it's in the movies, it's in the music, and all Naomi wants to do is get away from it all. A magic cat, omens, the stars and dreams figure into a big dose of reality for a woman caught in the hippie era.
Thallasophile - lover of the ocean. That's me. I have a strong affinity for that entity and express those feelings through my writing--my books. They may span many genres but are all connected to the place I call home. Genres published: historical fiction, literary, murder, essays--they all are set on Topsail Island where I grew up. It is my way of perserving this wonderful place and the people with whom I share my life. The first book in the Murder by the Sea series is WATERLOGGED. Don Belkin is a former Marine, now a detective with the Surf City Police Dept. He's a conflicted man, to say the least, as he struggles to accept his past and find solace in the small beach town. Bitterness runs deep between the locals who have populated the area for generations and the "new" folks who think they've found paradise. Oh, Topsail Island may be the perfect tourist attraction, but in the summer it's just plain MURDER. (there are 5 more books in the series)
Naomi never showed her feelings; she kept them hidden. No, it wasn't because she was confident, as Mim thought, it was because she was so unsure of herself.
Naomi presented herself well, just like the cover of a book.
Ever know someone like that?

The Sneak Freaky
Had she been jealous of Naomi? Mim thought not. Was she jealous of her now? If she was, it was not about popularity or looks; Mim felt fairly confident there. But she did feel a bit envious of the way Naomi was in control. Whatever was going on in her life, Naomi did not feel the need for sharing. She did not wear her heart on her sleeve and kept her love life, her frustrations, to herself. Mim did envy Naomi’s self-control. If the older girl had failed at anything, she had never let it show.
