At Weeki Wachee she no longer feared sea life. The fish swam from her in fear. The dolphins laughed because she willed it. The Nereids, the other mermaids, were there to cajole and entertain her. She was only part of their performance because they needed her; noble as she was, she gave of her time and energy.
Ever mindful that it was Poseidon who had taken her powers, her virtue and virginity, as Estelle’s father had (oh how she hated him), Estelle grew more reserved, less approachable.
